WEST ROXBURY, MA Blue Hills Impact are delighted to announce that 16u McGovern's, Nia Phillips, has been selected to represent Great Britain U17 National Team in this year's Canada Cup tournament in July.

Following the roster announcement made by The British Softball Federation on Friday April 28th, which included the Impact's Phillips, we sat down her to ask about the process of going from Billing's Field to British National Team.

"Ironically, I actually wasn't going to even apply out of fear. I didn't think I would get in but I ultimately took the chance and applied for the women's team which was an older age group than I am in" Nia explained"Due to my age, I did not get accepted into the women's team but the coaches liked my application and did not want it going to waste so they drafted me to the U17 team instead"It is with the hope of both Nia and Team GB that she can use her time with U17 team to enhance her play to be ready for U18 and older teams in the future.

When asked about how she felt on receiving the news, as well as representing both GB and Blue Hills Impact on the international stage, Nia added, "just remember the feeling of anticipation, waiting and waiting for the results to come back and finally getting the 'congrats you're in'. Representing my country,  Great Britain, in something as big as the Canada Cup is so important to me and I am beyond proud. Being able to take the sport that I love with my entire heart, back to my country, and compete for global recognition is so amazing". Nia summarized by saying,   "I owe it to the Impact for letting me know about the about opportunity. Being able to represent Blue Hills Impact so far away from our home in Boston is amazing. I am so proud to call the Impact Family my home and I wouldn't have it any other way".

Nia will head off to Vancouver, Canada, on July 8th to meet up with her team before competing in the Canada Cup from July 10th-16th. We want to wish Nia a huge congratulations and all the best as everyone in the Impact Family are rooting for you!
